We are in the 21st century in every way--but mainly in the technology age. We are so connected all around the world with just a push of the button. Most students in today's classrooms know more about technology than their teacher. I remember the days of computers taking up a large room in the building. Now it only takes a small space on your lap or on your desk top.
I feel that Web 2.0 will be a useful tool in the classroom. I plan to use the things that I learn with my students, including Wikis, blogging, etc.

Thing # 1
As I reviewed 7 1/2 Habits of Effective Lifelong Learners, I kept remembering a long time ago, I had read the book 7 1/2 Habits of Effective People. I feel the two have several things in common.
The number one thing I have found is that attitude plays a large part in being successful in learning and in life. The habit that will be most challenging to me will be "viewing problems as challenges or opportunities". I get very frustrated if something does not work for me the first time. I do not like problems! The easiest habit for me will be to "accept responsibility for my own learning". I love new things! The most important habit for me will be "to create my own learning toolbox". I have so much to learn!
So--let the learning begin!

Hello friends,
Welcome to my blog. I know this will be so neat to meet and chat with you through our blogs.
I teach Title One at McKenzie Elementary. This is my 24th year in Mesquite ISD. I have loved every minute and still do--most days. I have taught first, third, fourth and now Title One. I also teach ESL.
I am a firm believer in the saying "never too old to learn". I hope this proves true with this course plus the INTEL class I am taking now.
I do have another blog, but it has been a while since I updated it. So now I am starting a new one and plan to keep it updated often.
